Decoy Services

At Tri-State Canine Services, we understand the key element to developing well trained decoy dogs is to understand the drive of a canine; it is essential to this task. Due to the volume of dogs we have dealt with, we know what it takes to train even a young pup through adulthood to make that dog street worthy, to be confident in, and be a solid working dog. It is important to note that just because someone participates in a training session or goes to school to learn handling,  does not mean they can decoy a dog, or teach another person decoy skills. We have placed dogs with many law enforcement agencies, from local police departments to military special forces. We know what to expect and how to get the most out of our working dogs and we can train you to recognize how a canine thinks and reacts.

When it comes to police K9 decoy work, handlers need to know there is a true art to showing proper decoy skills. These skills need to be understood and taught to all individuals that assist you in the bite work. Developing proper skills for this work  is critical. Remember, these are police dogs. Our police dogs and handlers work and train day and night. Developing these skills must overlap and be consistent while we progress in our work.

We cannot stress enough the importance of decoy work in maintaining a  police K9. Handlers that realize something is not right with their dog need to address it immediately and work to a solution instead of overlooking or ignoring it. If problems with your police K9 go unaddressed, it is just a matter of time before you and your dog will get hurt. Ensure this does not happen by working with Tri-State Canine Services.

Our police dog decoy training services started with basic concepts in the canine sport work. Since then, they have evolved. Our experiences travelling Europe and assisting in decoy work at the KNPV clubs in Holland, has fostered our own combination of styles and philosophies that are the perfect match for all your decoy service needs.

In today’s world, you need instructors that can offer solutions to problems, not just simply pick up the trained dogs from the airport. Let us help you see what you have been missing. We can accommodate various group sizes and customize lesson plans so your helpers can better your team’s street performance.
