 Hello and welcome to Tri-State Canine Services. My name is Dave
Blosser, I am the owner and trainer of the company. I am a police
officer as well as the k9 handler for my department. I started
training working dogs in 1993 way before I became a police
officer. It was in 2001 when I started the business after seeing
many questionable teams working the road and these dogs were from
well known kennels and I felt my dogs were of better quality and I
could be of service to them or other agencies. As a cop it's easy
to sell dogs, when I as a civilian I had to prove my dogs are
good, so I looked into the Muncie Police K9 Olympics as a way to
justify.
As a civilian police k9 trainer it was unheard of them
competing in the Muncie Police K9 Olympics but in 2002 I was the
first. The first year, I placed 12th in narcotic detection out
of 32 teams and after that year we have placed in many top 5
finishes. To me the K9 Olympics was a way to field test your
product and capability among people outside your training area.
Since the time I have started I have assisted many police departments with their monthly
maintenance training and through that time I slowly started to implement new
programs (canines) and offer various k9 instruction and sales
to more departments.
I have instructed handlers and
handled canines myself that were used for patrol, drug, cadaver and explosive detection
services either privately or through an agency. Some of these
handlers are with local police or deployed over seas to work
government contracts. I have
also provided k9 detection services
throughout Ohio and Western Pennsylvania for schools and large
corporations since that time.
Prior to becoming an officer, I worked as a certified welder
for a large corporation and felt my skill could work hand in
hand with the dogs I handled or trained, so after a sit down sketch on a
piece of paper I built a crate and started offering them. I have
built many crates for the general public to small and large police
departments including government agencies.
